How To Install NeverFreeze Roof & Gutter Cable

This overview does not substitute for a full reading of the Installation Manual.

The below steps will take you from beginning to end simply, but please refer to the full Installation Manual or call us to go over a more detailed installation plan.

NeverFreeze Roof and Gutter Cables are an easy way to clear your gutters from snow and ice build up and eliminate icicles keeping people and shingles safe!.

Before beginning your installation:

  • Start with a clear and reasonably clean roof and gutter surface.
  • Ensure that you have a safe and sturdy ladder and spotter if necessary.
  • Plan for the intended location of your controller(s) and select appropriate locations for your heating cable(s) accordingly.
1Make sure you have the right amount of material.
  • Contact support if you have any questions prior to your installation.
2Connect your GFCI plug-in to the heating cable unless you have purchased a factory-connected unit
3Pull the cable through the downspout.
  • Heating the downspouts will create a full and natural path for melted snow and ice to travel.
  • If more downspouts occur around the home the cable can be looped in downspouts but cannot be T-spliced.
4Run a heating cable inside of the gutter.
  • Similar to the heating cable in the downspout, the cable in the gutter creates a full path for the melted snow and ice to flow off the roof properly.
5Attach flat metal hanger brackets to cable with zip ties and lay inside gutter.
  • Curve the flat metal hanger bracket so that half of it bends into the downspout and half lays in the gutter.
6Attach clips to roof under shingles.
7If running in zigzag pattern on roof, plan your layout. See picture below for complete layout.
8Plugin the unit to the outdoor outlet.
1Make sure you have the right amount of material.
  • Contact support if you have any questions prior to your installation.
2Pull the cable through the downspout.
  • Heating the downspouts will create a full and natural path for melted snow and ice to travel.
  • If more downspouts occur around the home the cable can be looped in downspouts but cannot be T-spliced.
3Run a heating cable along the inside of the gutter.
  • Similar to the heating cable in the downspout, the cable in the gutter creates a full path for the melted snow and ice to flow off the roof properly.
4Attach flat metal hanger brackets to cable with zip ties and lay inside gutter.
  • Curve the flat metal hanger bracket so that half of it bends into the downspout and half lays in the gutter.
5If running in zigzag pattern on roof, plan your layout. See picture below for an sample layout.
  • Running cable in gutter as well as in a zigzag pattern on roof is recommended when using ETO2 controller.
6Attach clips to roof under shingles.

It is recommended only to install the cable during dry conditions. The system will work as snow and ice accumulates, so it is not advised to add the cable to existing dams and snow.Shop Now
What is the voltage?
Our cables come in either 120 Volts or 240 Volts. The voltage you need depends on how much space you are covering. Our experts can help you choose which is right for you.Shop Now
Why not just manually take the snow off the roof?
Manually removing snow can be dangerous and ineffective. Our systems are designed to melt the snow and ice as it develops, helping to avoid buildup. By treating the problem as it arises, a clear channel is continually open for water to escape. This helps prevent problems that could have already developed once snow and ice has accumulated and someone removes it manually. Also, our system automatically detects and adjusts its reactions accordingly and continuously once it’s turned on. You won’t have to keep running out during every snowfall or cold spell. Just lay the cable out and let it work for you.Shop Now
