Electric In-Floor Heating for Tile

- Added durability to the floor
- 10-12 W/ft² output for ideal heat distribution
- Designed to fit any room
- Reduced subfloor movement and likelihood of cracked tiles
- Heating cable made in the USA
When you need an easy-to-install underfloor heat product for flexible application, ThermoTile Cable is the right solution. The loose ThermoTile Cable is arranged between the studs on an uncoupling membrane such as DITRA-Heat to fit any shape of room and accomodate any fixtures like toilets or vanities. ThermoTile Heating Cables are the highest quality heating cables available.
ThermoTile Cable is Made in the USA and is not affiliated or endorsed by Schluter Systems.
Floor Heating Cable
Combine cables as needed to fit open walkable space, avoiding areas covered by cabinets, vanities or other permanent fixtures. The heating cable cannot be shortened, so avoid over-filling. Each cable will connect to the thermostat, so larger cables will reduce required connections. At 3 stud spacing on a sole thermostat, 120V cables cover up to 175 ft²; 240V cables cover up to 350 ft². DO NOT MIX VOLTAGES.Contact us for project assistance.

Thermostats & Critical Components
A floor heating thermostat is necessary to control your radiant heat system. Most of our floor heating thermostats are dual-voltage and include a 5ma GFCI, unlike models from online warehouse retailers. A thermostat is capable of a 15-amp load; adding a power module or relay will increase system load capacity. Each includes a floor sensor, but a backup is recommended. Select 1 thermostat for each zone desired. Contact an expert for guidance.

Avoid future replacement headaches (15'). Include 1 per thermostat.

2-Gang electrical box, conduit & connectors. Include 1 per thermostat.

How To Install ThermoTile Heating Cable With Schluter DITRA-HEAT Membrane
This overview does not substitute for a full reading of the Installation Manual.
The below steps will take you from beginning to end simply, but please refer to the full Installation Manual or call us to go over a more detailed installation plan.
ThermoTile Cables are an easy way to add heat to a tile floor, and pairing them with an uncoupling membrane adds additional benefits to the structure of your floor.
Before beginning your installation:
- Ensure that you have a structurally sound subfloor
- Choose a starting point for the beginning of the mat, we suggest beginning near the planned placement of the thermostat.
- Conduct resistance tests on the heating cable before during and after the installation.
1Make sure you have the right amount of material.

- The membrane should cover the entire floor space.
- Follow heating cable spacing from walls and studs according to the manual.
- Heating elements should be in areas where you can walk, stand, or want to heat. See your manual for areas to avoid heating
- Contact support if you have any questions prior to your installation.
2Prepare conduits and electrical boxes for thermostat installation later.

- Complete electrical rough-in
- This step may be done after cable is laid but is more difficult to do later as location of thermostat may change location of heating system.
3Spread thinset on subfloor and install membrane.

- See your Schluter® DITRA-HEAT membrane manual for recommended trowel and type of thinset for your subfloor.
- Membrane should cover entire floor.
- Cut excess membrane to ensure floor is level.
4Position heating cable between the studs on the membrane.

- Cut notch for lead wire.
- See manual for approved cable spacing.
- Pro tip-Push cable between studs with flat side of the trowel.
- Make sure not to use a sharp metal trowel which could nick or damage the heating cable.
5Position sensors

- Highly recommended to install a backup sensor.
- Position sensor evenly between 2 heating cables.
- Do not cross the heating cable.
6Thinset above using flat side of trowel to get embedded completely

- Work in sections, covering entire membrane so you can continue installing membrane whether it's wet or dry
- Pack thinset into membrane grooves.
- Make sure not to use a sharp metal trowel which could nick or damage the heating cable.
7Add appropriate amount of thinset and trowel notch-wise

- Make sure not to use a sharp metal trowel which could nick or damage the heating cable.
- Consult National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) for proper amount of thinset.
8Install Tile

- Periodically lift edges to see if proper coverage is achieved.
